A scare and some more blessings

The littl-ist little sat down and hard and came up gushing blood out of his mouth yesterday. One trip to the ER later and he is home with a fat lip. I would rather that have happened though than not come home at all. My heart is bleeding for those kids at Sandy Hook and those in China. I also feel for the teachers, survivors, first responders, police, hospital workers, all those that witnessed the aftermath will never be the same. NEVER. Now onto my list of blessings 21. Great medical care in our area. We went to st. Marys in KC...they do great work there. 22. The benefits for foster kids is amazing. The health care people always are so understanding and willing to see our kids in a timely manner and they get great care wherever we go. 23. Unexpected picture and videos of our treasures in Eastern Europe. We got to see one of them talking that was a joyous occasion. 24. Christmas parties: This one ended in blood but made me closer to my little and to see him still smiling even though its got to hurt...makes me have hope for the world yet. 25. Another chance for snow...Well have that white Christmas yet. 26. A school where God is still welcome. 27. A new baby bed for the littl-ist little. We got a good deal and it is gonna be so nice once we get it together. 28. A husband willing to clean house when he is just as tired as I am. 29. Christmas gift exchange at school. Its just a little gift of love. 30. Supportive parents...have I said that one before if not they are very supportive and that is wonderful.

15 days til christmas

For some reason Chet is all Bah humbug this year. He is a procrastinator and he hasn't wanted to think about Christmas shopping yet.  Seriously. That is what I am dealing with. I keep telling myself it will be ok we can get it all done...but i used to be done long before this and he just doesn't shop till right before Christmas...Annoying...next year Im gonna do my shopping in the summer.  That's my plan and I'm sticking to it. I was at the Christian book store and I really wanted one of these for the littles. But it was 30.00 and that was on sale. So hmmm. what to do what to do?
To tell you the truth I am kinda bah humbugging too.  Our Christmas plans changed through no fault of our own...half the family wont even be there and that is really bumming me out. The eldest little doesn't do goodbyes well and we are already regretting the short time span with the fam and the goodbye crying we know is going to happen. It is hard when you don't have a go with the flow kid. WE are late getting our tree up we are late getting everything up I just feel like I'm always 12 steps behind...And I am grieving for other people's children that went to be with Jesus recently. Pray that I can get with it and prepare the littles for the changes and PRAY for those families going into Christmas without their Littles this year...

Count your blessings

11. Pandora online radio station: They play lullabys for my kids to go to sleep everynight and we have tailored it so its mostly hymns they here...Such a blessing to praise God while waiting for the littles to go to sleep.
12. Nieces: I have 2 great ones...Though I cant pin them down as to when I can visit them I still love them :)
13. I am thankful that I walk to work everyday. Saves money and keeps me healthy...gives me time to Clear my head for the day.
14. My minivan. It is perfect for the family God has been sending us.
15. I work where my kids go to school.
16. Christmas - Its my favorite time of the year.
17. Thrift shops  - that is where I get all my clothes and most of the kids clothes. I shop in a part of town where the yuppies live and we get really cute stuff for cheap.
18. The chance of snow in the forecast. I really want a white Christmas. And since I walk to work I like to walk in it.
19. I still have 2 living Grandparents...love you Papa and Grandma!!
20. Blind kids....they are my passion..just like any other kid!

WE ARE in a NEW category

At Reece's rainbow, families travel on a continuum in the website based on where you are in your journey. At first your child is in My family found me. People are always excited to see a child show up in My Family Found Me (MFFM) You aren't listed as the child's family until you get in some paperwork and your $1275 commitment fee.  Then after that is paid you go onto the New commitments page.  It is super exciting to see a family there as you can now follow their blog and support the family. After you sign on with a homestudy agency then you go to the Homestudy in progress page. You are supposed to get the homestudy done in three months time. For some it is shorter for us it was longer.  Reece's rainbow gets concerned if it is longer and that can be really stressful. Then you go to the compiling Dossier page.  Each step you move along you get a little more excited and a little more freaked out that soon you will be a parent.
The next category is Almost there. That is where we are as of this morning. You can see it here. Isn't it pretty. My friend Amanda and I are so excited about changing categories.... We have 2 left. Traveling now and Already Home. There is only one left for her ...Already Home. This is so exciting....Chet is in a panic...please pray that we come to terms with this new change and that God will calm our nerves about the up and coming changes to our lives.

The world of adoption...

The world of adoption is full of pain and full of joy. Just like everything in life. WE are grieving this morning at the loss of one sweet little boy named Henry. Henry cam home from the Ukraine almost a year ago. Yesterday he went home to Jesus after complications from surgery. He died in family. He was loved and cherished. The family's blog is here. You can see the difference love makes. PLEASE pray for this family.

1000 blessings...and Women of Faith

Recently I got lucky enough to be given a ticket to Women of Faith. I am a big fan of Women of Faith except that the price of tickets isn't really what the common lay person can afford. At 90 bucks a ticket....well you see what I mean. But If you want to go God will make a way. Last year my mom bought my ticket in this year a lady I had told I was wanting to go had to give up her ticket and I got it. One of the speakers that was a little kooky was Anna Voskamp bestselling author of 1000 gifts. While she was a little weird when she spoke, it did get me thinking, and she presented the challenge to take a pen and some paper and write a thousand gifts/or blessings in your life. She said that when you do it changes you and your world for the better. So I have decided to take her up on the challenge and type mine right here on this very blog. The idea is that when you see all that God bestows on you in the little things and the big ones you get the whole picture.

1. God, he made me and I am his.
2. My husband Chet. He is trying so hard lately and I can see him growing unto his halo.
3. My kids
4. my dog Toby...straight from heaven that one.
5. My other dogs Alfalfa and Jessie
6. My cats Koda and Timid and Nitro.  I have 2 others but they are just annoying.
7. My house, it is little but cozy and I can paint the walls anyway I want
8. My parents
9. Chet's parents
10. My job.

God is moving Maxim's Mountains

Today I looked at Ten for orphans and look what God has done...His fund is now at $16715.85. The family had an auction going on so maybe that came from that....whatever it was PRAISE GOD. THey need just $3284.15.  That is chump change in God's pocketbook. Can you help his family out?? PLEASE go to Ten for orphans and give ...maybe just $5 or maybe $20. Whatever you got is enough for this little boy.

THEY are fully funded

Pryce's family is fully funded. YEAH! that is a relief. Now to talk about someone else who is soooo close to being fully funded. 15 days into this month and Maxim's family only has recieved $500 through ten for orphans. They only have $4500 more to be fully funded. At the beginning of the month I was like that's easy then we can move onto another needy child. But now I am not so sure....Can God do it! ABSOLUTELY. Will he? I don't know. If you have time go over to ten for Orphans and send Maxim and his soon to be family some love. Maxim is 8 can you imagine waiting that long for a family?? His family lives in Wichita btw. That means he is coming home to the midwest....so lets bring him HOME!!

I got one word for you....I hesitate to share it even....it worked that GOOD. Its Natroba. Recently approved by the FDA its pricy but so worth it. No combing and works the first time. Its that good. Try it.

They have the money to go and stay there....but so far they don't have the money to get HOME. Do you hear that....they are taking a leap of faith. The Lord told them, "GO!" they are going. WE need to help them get home! I challenge you all to donate $1, $5, $10...whatever you got and bring them home!! Maybe you sell tupperware and can donate from a recent party or maybe you found 20 bucks in the dryer please consider donating to them. They are doing what God has asked.... ARE YOU?

New orphan for Ten For Orphans

The New orphan this month is another Maxim. This Maxim is dear to my heart as he is in the same region as Vika. HE has just recently started to walk and he is in desperate need for medical attention. He has something that is causing his stomach to become bloated and the doctors in his country wont treat him because they say that is his down syndrome. They Don't know or Don't care that .....that is NOT A symptom of DOWN SYNDROME!!  Go and help the family or spread the word for this child HERE.

The Pryce of FREEDOM

The Burlingham family has gotten some help towards bringing Pryce home. But they still need about 3,700 more. The kiddos from his family are so excited to have him as a brother...please help them bring Pryce home...He deserves freedom and love, and someone who cherishes him.Look at that face...kinda hesitant to believe anyone could want him....not sure whether to smile or not. Please help them bring him home. For tax deductible donations go here.

A Plea for Pryce

THIS is Pryce. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LcWYm79ZdZ0/UIWKzBA_4GI/AAAAAAAAB8c/P1s14saz4fU/s270/prycefeb2012-3.jpgPryce's soon to me momma is my best friend Amanda.
I have mentioned her before. She is my sister from another mother....I swear. Anyways she has been there holding my hand all throughout our adoption. Her family was adopting Andriy who through VERY unseen circumstances became unable to be adopted....Their hearts and ours were broken and lost without Andriy in the sights. But they kept on and now they are adopting Pryce IF they can get the money raised to go there. They are $9000.00 short. Currently there is a $230 matching grant. That means that the next $230 donated with me doubled. PLEASE go clean out your couch cushions and donate what you find there to PRYCE and his family. Or better yet take that 20 bucks you were  going to buy pop with and give it to them...PLEASE PLEASE!!  THE families blog is here They have a chip in there or you can donate tax deductible at http://reecesrainbow.org/12374/sponsorburlingham

WE are getting an IKEA!!

YEAH! finally after belonging to the Kansas Citians for IKEA facebook page for over 3 years we are finally getting an IKEA here in Kansas City. The only down side is that it will be in Kansas not Missouri. Missouri hasnt quite figured out how to draw in retail yet. But still it is slated to open 2014. I cant wait to camp out at the front door for the grand opening.

I am so Excited!!

We are so ready for the girls to come. WE are getting their room ready and getting the FINAL paperwork done. WE are racing around trying to get notaries and apostilles so that our dossier can be sent. And we know now that we might be able to handle them. We know now what our bedtime routine is and what rules we want for our family. Yes we are getting along over here just dandy

FBI Biometrics....Check

Well we completed our biometrics yesterday with the FBI. Going into a building that says Homeland Security was  a  little bit scary....The guard at the front door said where are you from? I said here. He smiled and said,"Oh! you're here for an international adoption?" I said yes and he told me where to go. Made me smile just to have this part done and for the guard that has to explain everything in whatever language you speak I was an easy one. I was from here. I speak English...and a wee bit Russian. lol. The 4 little monkeys are now just 2 little monkeys.   By the way, the older of the 2 has been following a bedtime routine I set up  that is bath, brush teeth, go potty get a drink and read 3 books then go to bed.At first it was like pulling teeth to get thru those books...she had ADHD when it came to books but now she begs for them and choses them over other activities. She has picked reading over DORA and coloring. Right now she is reading 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed to us everynight....tooo cute!! She has a birthday coming soon and for those in the family you are all invited. but More on that later

Everyhting I know about being a mom...comes from Pinterest!

Seriously, I am loving having a four year old. Sure I am exhausted but it has been fun. And Pinterest helps. Do you do Pinterest?? Its like a virtual bulletin board with all these neat ideas to try. It also has all these bright ideas...Like our little monkey has really been attached to some bandaids mom in law gave her.  The problem they have been stuck on her chest about a week now. She wont let us peel them off and guards them with her hand....she wont trade for them either. But guess what I learned on pinterest. Baby oil takes them off pain free. So we played in the tub with baby oil last night and they were peeling off this morning....Yeah!! I am also getting ready to make a sensory tub for little monkey. She really likes to manipulate small things so this should be perfect for her. I want this one to be Fall themed. The one above is from Counting coconuts which is a really great idea blog for parents of toddlers. I have the leaves already and we picked apples last week so I will put some real apples in for her. We also pass an acorn tree on our way home so I am having her get acorns and pinecones to add. Then add a little corn and some leaf foam shapes I have a voila a sensory tub!!

We R Foster Parents Part 3

So eventually it is September when our social worker said classes would begin. No classes then October starts with still no word on classes. Several kids we are interested in have aged out of the system at this point. Chet works as a director of a homeless shelter. As chance would have it about this time he was invited to attend the governors counsel meeting to end homelessness. It was done as a phone conference with the Governor of Missouri. When the meeting took a 15 minute break, Chet asked the secretary about why it has taken us so long to have classes. The secretary talked with him put him on hold...the Governor came on and said can you take them in another country on October 15th? We said yes YES and in 5 minutes we were enrolled in another counties classes....YES!!! After our classes that county fast TRACKED us in to adoption classes to That was last January....9 months ago then we waited.....with no calls for placement. During our classes after being thoroughly fed up with our county we got pulled into international adoption. And with God working MAJOR miracles in the financial part it was obvious that this was the way we were supposed to go.
So this is what hurts when people say, "Why don't you adopt locally ??" We have tried to, we have been trying for 2 years, there are kids no longer in the system that could have had parents but our county dragged its feet. I wish those positions at the DFS  were elected positions that is the only way to get people that care somewhat.

We R Foster parents Part 2

So after we turned our application in in January we weren't contacted again about our application until April. And that was when I finally let Chet start to handle it In April, a SW finally sat down with us and took our next bit of paperwork described the process and told us she would hopefully get us in soon for training she told us to start looking at the kids on adoptuskids and at the heart gallery...she thought that she might have a training in September. September?? WE WERE SHOCKED!! We started in November this was April we wanted kids for the summer and now she said we couldn't even start training until September?? I told her that hacked me off and that we wanted kids for the summer. She said well you can do respite care. Respite is when you take a kid for a foster family that is taking a vacation, going out of the country, or they just need a break. So we agreed to that. Well we got one call a 13 year old girl we had for 10 days at the end of  July. And so after that we waited for traning to start. And we waited and waited...

Yep we R Foster Parents

Had a comment from Jed and Kimber on the last post saying that they didn't know we were foster parents and that they are too. I am glad it is always good to have people to ask questions of. Because we are adopting internationally people always ask us weird questions...The one that always takes away a little piece of my heart is the "Why don't you adopt kids from here?" Why does it hurt? I'll tell you....2 years ago Chet and I saw the heart gallery when we were down at Crown center.  What is a heart gallery? you can see and read about it here. So since we had discussed that we would like to adopt someday and since Chet saw some kids there he might be interested in we decided to pursue it. The next day or so we went to our local family services office and got an application. Right from the very beginning we met with resistance they said ok if your interested take this folder home....read about it...if you are still interested come back and we will give you an application. We told them that's ok fork over the application they were shocked...we had already read and talked to people this is what we wanted. So they gave us the application and we filled it out and returned it to them and waited and waited and waited......

WE are parents of one

So we took a placement and "O" is settling in nicely. She was able to go to school with me today and that meant DH could get some sleep.  That also means that she will be able to go everyday which means that she will be in the same building as me. Will tell more later when I have more time...

It's raining kids

Ok so in the past 2 weeks around here it has been raining kids. I mean it. Kids are falling from the sky left and right. After a 2 year drought where we didn't get one call this past 2 weeks we have gotten 5 phone calls for 5 different sibling groups. And today came another call. But here's the thing we are walking a fine line...We are getting ready for the girls. We are in the mind set of getting the house ready for the girls ages 6 and 7 and preparing for that. We weren't thinking about other kids. Today it was 3 kids under the age of 5. yikes !! I was thinking about going home after school and taking a nap then fixing dinner and doing all that that entails... now im thinking about putting several children to bed finding them pj's wondering if I have enough beds and formula and things like that....wth. The people that said only kids age 3-21 might be making bottles tonight?? It's funny what God plans for us isn't it?? Will we take them. I don't know! When will I know?? I don't know. But I'll let you know when I do. Until then pray for me as a new mom that might be getting kids TONIGHT!!

THINGS are moving right along

Well this week my computer started to die and my keyboard went kaputz. And neither thing was related to the other one...weird. But On a happier note we are almost done with our dossier. It is a relief BIG TIME. To almost be complete.  We have sent paperwork to USCIS and are waiting for them to send a paper back that says we are approved to adopt...Adoptive Parents call it the Golden Ticket like the movie Willy Wonka.  You might just see me do a rendition of the golden ticket song too when ours comes. Some of you might have seen our FSP move too. We had a donor give us $5000 for us to be able to pursue a second child.  This is absolutely wonderful. I can't even tell you what an answer to prayer that is for us!!
Also we still have a fundraiser going on at www.myheartbeeps4orphans.blogspot.com. We haven't really raised much over there...but what has been given has been given out of love and that is what matters.
Just remember it is for three families so when you give it helps all three.

HE Still MOVES mountains TODAY!!

OK, so much has been going on as of late that I haven't had time to even stop and figure out what to write on here.  There are so many things going on some good and some bad...The bad isn't happening with us, but several families in the Reece's rainbow community have been touched by tragedy and that makes my heart hurt for them.
ALSO our home-study arrived and since it said 2 like we asked we are making arrangements for 2 children not just one and that has me both excited and nervous....I am starting to prepare for things I never did before like bath times....we had nothing for kids in our bathroom....So I am sewing hooded towels....picking up some bath toys....head proofing the faucet, getting a toy net, organizing the clothes in the bathroom, coming up with a chart for cleaning the bathroom. And just when you think you're done you think of other things like step stools....and kid toilet seats....zoikes!!! Also its a fine line of protecting yourself and getting ready...We could get everything ready and something could happen and plans could change so that is the line we are walking.
I have to think though since the money for the girls came out of nowhere that this is God appointed, God approved so that is what we are moving towards. We have another fundraiser going on  HERE. The money I was trying to raise in it for the last $1300 in fees ( $890 + $500) hasn't come in to the fundraiser yet but that is OK because God is making a way elsewhere I think....its amazing how he works. He STILL moves mountains TODAY!! Don't deny it. Sometimes I am jealous of the people in Jesus times....They saw him...they felt him...He was right there in front of him performing miracles.  Even if I hadn't seen a miracle, and my friend walked up to me and said there was this guy in the square and he healed 2 blind men and another guy that couldn't walk, did!! I know I would have believed and followed him... But often times then, just like today he was right there doing amazing things and they didn't see him, they didn't believe.
Well even though there have been many miracles in my life, I have to say that this one that is leading to my kids has to be the best movie, the best journey,  I have ever seen. And I am so glad you guys have a front row seat to the show.

Early on before Chet and I agreed to 2 kids,  Chet laid out an ultimatum about having 2. That I could come up with medical care for them and raise the $5000 extra. So I told my cousin Missy and she helped with # 1 and another person came through for #2. All I gotta say is don't speak an ultimatum on God's turf cause he will come through EVERY time!!

Ok some things I wanted to be sure and mention:
this is Spencer....his family, the Twietmeyers, started the organization Project Hopeful which helps educate and save Orphans with HIV as well as families seeking other children with special needs. You can read about Project hopeful HERE. So Spencer is orphan of the month at Ten For Orphans...www.tenfororphans.org Whom you will remember was so instrumental in helping us get the money for Victoria.  Spencer has 8 days left and they are at $17,531.82  out of $26,000 total. They had a killer fundraiser earlier this month and now they only need about $2500 total if everyone pays for their auction items. I know not everyone can give but PRAYERS and SHARING this link with others can help so much. Will you SHARE Spencer's story?? Will you PRAY for his family and him??

OK this is Maxim...Remember him from Ten For Orphans awhile back?? Well he now has a family that is fundraising to go and get him!! Why am I mentioning it? Well they have a MATCHING GRANT for Maxim.
What is that? Well, Maxim's family has a person willing to donate up to $500. That means if you donate your donation will be doubled..up to $500. you can donate HERE. If you can't donate please Share or PRAY.

Why do we care?? Why do I tell you about these other families??@ orphans have died recently with parents that were going for them....they dies alone and these mothers will never get to hold these babies....PLEASE consider this is a life and death situation for most of these orphans....Thanks

So here's the thing

WE have a final fundraiser going on our other blog. It is to benefit 3 families total. I am really nervous about it for many reasons. The first is I talked the to other mamas into it even though neither of them have had much luck with giveaways...The other reason is that we all really need these funds to finish our adoptions...I know our God can do anything...but I'm really sweating it. The third reason is that the giveaway items are worth quite a lot and if we cant raise enough then we are practically giving them away. So that is what is going on here. If you share about the fundraiser on a blog post or on your face book page then you get one entry into the giveaway. PLEASE share and tell others about this giveaway!! Also if your children are visually impaired, there are some really great brailled books!! http://myheartbeeps4orphans.blogspot.com/

Sometimes I win something and even though I didn't win the "big" prize I wished I could have told someone with another item that I wanted it. Then THIS givaway is for you!! When the giveaway is over we will draw the names and let you pick from the prizes that are left. People will pick in the order their names are drawn.

We also wanted to make sure that everyone could afford to enter so you can enter for as little as $5. If you blog about the giveaway or SHARE about it you can also get an entry into the giveaway. There are a lot of COOL items and we may be adding even more! If you would like to enter, please click on the chip-in on this blog and the monies donated will be split three ways amongst Gavin, Victoria, and Pryce. You can also donate to the FSP links at right.

This giveaway is to benefit the Thomas Family who is adopting Gavin, The Nachtmann family who is adopting Victoria, and the Burlingham family who is adopting Pryce. THe new orphan of the month!!

Sorry I am late posting this...I have been working on some very important documents!!
This month's orphan at Ten for Orphans is very special....Spencer!

The Twietmeyer’s have much experience as an adoptive family and in the adoption community. Kiel and Carolyn are the founders of Project HOPEFUL, nfp.  Their journey began by God introducing Kiel to a divorced mother of 4 kids.  He married all 5 of them! Kiel and Carolyn gave birth to 3 more children together. Through a series of miracles with 2 of their birth sons, as in bonafide healing and life-conquers-death-only-God-could-do-it-scenarios, they realized that God had big plans for their family.   As they watched what God could do with serious brain damage in both of their sons, lung disease, and other things, they began to realize that they had just endured boot camp for God’s future plans! After those miraculous healings, they thought “What’s a little HIV?” They adopted 2 separate biological sibling sets of 3–two of whom had HIV/AIDS–and saw further MIRACLES.  As if it couldn’t get any better, the Lord delivered a beautiful 8 week old baby girl with Down syndrome on Easter Sunday last year through adoption. That baby turned the whole family UPSIDE DOWN….(pun intended)…!
It was through baby Sofia that the Lord opened their eyes in a personal way to the needs across the world for children with Down syndrome, specifically the little ones that age out of baby houses into adult mental institutions at ages 4-5 years old.  The tragedy behind that was far too great to ignore.  Through a series of further miracles, they saw “Lincoln” (a.k.a. Spencer), and the WHOLE FAMILY knew they were to go get him. Lincoln just turned 6 years old. He has already been transferred.  The ramifications of this are devastating, and he needs to come home SOON.  There are MANY, MANY arms that can’t wait to HUG him, many hearts that will NEVER allow him to have another moment of fear or loneliness, plus his bed and Thomas the Train and Little People are waiting for him! They hope to travel to adopt him by the end of September.
One would think that with all this family does that they would instantly be fully funded. Well they are not. In fact they are about $10,000 short from being fully funded. WHAT?? yes that's right. But our God moves mountains and he can do this. PLEASE PRAY with me that the journey is quick to being fully funded.

In addition to their own commitment to orphans, the Twietmeyer’s are dedicated to Educating, Encouraging, and Enabling families and individuals to advocate for and adopt children with HIV/AIDS and others who are the most overlooked.  They are committed to the mission of ALL for ONE! They will stop at NOTHING for the ONE Who puts the ONE in front of them. Lincoln is that ONE!

John 14:18  I will not leave you as orphans; I will come for you. Please help bring Lincoln home! Please visit the Donate Now page to contribute to his rescue from the mental institution and give him a family of his own. You can visit the family’s blog here: http://www.thestitchthatmakesthesweaterperfect.com
there is also a fundraiser going on on the sight for LINCOLN. go check it out!! GO. NOW!

Blind people are the diggity bomb!!

Saw an article on Huffington post...just had to SHARE

Im Dong Hyun
LONDON — South Korean archer Im Dong-hyun sees only blurred colors and lines when he peers toward the target about 76 yards away, arrow at the ready. It doesn't stop the legally blind Olympian from hitting the grapefruit-sized yellow center – again and again and again.

Im set the first world record of the London Olympics on Friday, breaking his own mark in the 72-arrow event and helping South Korea set a team record in the opening round. He broke the record he set in Turkey in May by three points with a score of 699, hours before the opening ceremony of the 2012 Games.
"This is just the first round, so I will not get too excited by it," said Im, who has 10 percent vision in his left eye and 20 percent in his right.

He combined with Kim Bub-min and Oh Jin-hyek, breaking the record for 216 arrows with a score of 2,087. That was 18 better than the mark South Korea set in May.
The 26-year-old Im does not wear glasses in competition, saying he relies on distinguishing between the bright colors of the target. He won gold in the team event at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics.
South Korean coach Jang Young Sool also didn't seem too impressed by his team's accomplishment. He said his archers must get ready their next test.

"We will have a day of rest now and prepare for tomorrow," he said of the gold-medal match Saturday.
France finished second in the team event, followed by China and the U.S., which was ranked No. 1 coming into the event. The U.S. men beat South Korea last October in London.
Brady Ellison, world No. 1 individual archer, said the conditions were ideal Friday and he wasn't surprised the individual world record fell.

"I don't think you get those types of scores anywhere if the weather wasn't just perfect today," the American said. "Korea shoots good, and if you look at the scores, they're always top in the ranking round."
Also Friday, the American women's team scored a surprising second-place finish. Miranda Leek, Jennifer Nichols and Khatuna Lorig scored 1,979 points with 216 arrows. They were 14 points behind South Korea, which scored 1,993 points.

The U.S. team is ranked No. 6 in the world and qualified for London just last month in Utah.
Lorig, competing in her fifth Olympics, finished fourth in the individual event with 669 points on 72 arrows. She trailed archers from South Korea and Taiwan, all tied at 671 points.
"The ranking round is just a practice," she said. "As a team it is going really well. There is great team spirit and everybody is happy."

Lorig is a naturalized American who's represented the Unified Team of the former Soviet Union, the Republic of Georgia and the U.S. She coached archery to Jennifer Lawrence, star of "The Hunger Games."
Spectators hoping to catch a glimpse of the action Friday were turned away from Lord's cricket ground.
Preliminary rounds were listed as non-ticketed, so several thousand spectators showed up at the venue expecting to get in for free.

A spokeswoman for the London Games organizing committee said tickets were not advertised or sold for the qualifying events and "we have always made it clear" that the early competitions were not open for spectators.

15 seconds of Fame

The Thomas family was on the news. And while you think that might have helped them raised all the funds they needed. They are still short about $7000 dollars. PLEASE share this link on your blog and FB page.

What's your excuse??

I don't have the money. You can't save everybody. It makes me sad to look at those children. We should help children in our country. I like drinking coffee everyday. I like Doritos not those off brand ones.

All of these are excuses. Today I posted this on facebook.
Ok Facebook people EXPLAIN to me how you could SAVE a CHILD instead of buying that candy bar at work or you could SAVE a CHILD instead of buying name brand pop BUT YOU DON'T what are you gonna say to Jesus when you stand before him and he asks you why you just walked on by all those times. I hope you know that,"I wanted a snickers!" or "I only like the taste of Dr. Pepper!" Sounds pretty lame.
http://reecesrainbow.org/36628/sponsorthomas-2

What are you gonna say when you meet Jesus face to face? What is your excuse? What was Adam's excuse in the garden? What was Peter's excuse when he started sinking in the water? What was Jonah's excuse for not going to Ninevah?
You better start thinking of your excuse now. Cause if you put it into that perspective. They all sound pretty lame.
Why am I even bringing this up?? Well I am advocating for the Thomas family right now. They are adopting Gavin. I have mentioned them before. They have $10,000 left to raise they are traveling soon. In Gavin's country you can do two trips one to meet the child (and make sure that you want this child) and one to make it legal. But the Thomas family has been having trouble raising the funds it has been like pulling teeth. Several women have been working on it. She has a Thirty one fundraiser and a giveaway on her blog. The giveaway hasn't been doing so well. I mean yeah there is no IPAD, but again, what is your excuse??
"I would've donated Lord but there wasn't anything I liked in the giveaway!! "
Lately, I have watched as families in country who decide to adopt another child are getting funds enough to adopt another child while they are there. Nothing wrong with that. BUT the Thomas family is trying to SAVE Gavin who is dying. Who wont have time for another family to get him. HE IS RUNNING OUT of TIME.
Just this week his family got a review of his medical file from a local hospital. IT states Gavin is in Stage 4 renal (kidney) failure. Stage 4 ....there are 5 stages with 5 being End stage. He is that close. So close that the Thomas family decided to skip the first trip to speed up time and to spare the money they didn't have. They are taking him "as is" sight unseen. TO get there IN TIME. What can you do?? GO...donate to tenfororphans.org or at their FSP here.
Also We are gathering items for a third and final giveaway in the month of August. The last giveaway so they can get there. Got anything to donate please contact me at aholmes@hardin-central.org or hit me up on facebook. However, whatever you do...PLEASE NO MORE EXCUSES!!

Where we are....

We FINALLY got our homestudy draft and we are waiting on some changes and errors to be fixed.  I am working on completing our dossier documents that will be sent to Victorias orphanage. One set of 8 documents that I am currently working on cost $80 to be apostilled (notarized athe state level) and then if I were to ship it to the country it would cost another $150 in shipping. Luckily for me I have a lady that is traveling soon that can hand carry the documents to the country so it will only cost me about $20 to mail them to her.  That is how adoption is all these hidden fees and such.

There is a missionary in country but she hasn't connected with her person to get her into Victoria's country. I am anxious for her to get in so I can get new pictures of my girl!!

The other day on facebook a momma got on and was having issues fixing her blog. She wanted a different template but there was an error with the template. So anyways I offered to work on it for her. It was super fun to do. She could use a little blog lovin' as she brings a new one into her life!!
Go check out her blog here www.lifespebbles.blogspot.com and if anyone wants me to work on their blog I'd love to. Well thats all I know for now.

P.S. Go share about the Thomas family on your facebook page they are still about 16,000 away from being fully funded...www.tenfororphans.org

And I thought I would leave you with this cutie!!! http://www.godvine.com/Little-Boy-Singing-and-Playing-a-Ukelele-Will-Melt-Your-Heart-1765.html

She came home

Over 12 hours later covered in dirt and limping the prodigal dog returns....She is resting in the living room in a chair. I am not letting her outta my sight!!

My heart is missing!!

Jessie my sweet pup in top photo and at left in bottom photo is missing. Both of our dogs that spend most of their time in the garage with the attached backyard got out this morning during a storm when the door blew open. They were seen by 2 people together. We found alfalfa but not Jessie. PLEASE pray we find her. Lost animals are the worst and I need her home with me.  She has never been gone this long.  If you live in Hardin, Keep your eyes peeled. Thanks, Amanda

And those of you who I chat with on Facebook or who were with me at a recent family reunion know what this blog title is about.  God has cleared the way and we should see our draft soon...possibly next week. WE are working on our dossier documents and I am working on 2 new quilts....My first ones ever. They are grey and yellow and I am excited to see if I can actually figure out how to quilt. lol. These are very important as they will be on Vika's and the other bed in the room. The quilt block I am using is like the ones in this quilt by Sew Crafty Jess.
